Who
We Are
History
Washington Women's Foundation began in 1995, when
116 women joined to combine their resources to address the philanthropic
needs of the community. Since its founding, the foundation has
grown to 475 members and awarded grants totaling more than $7.5
million.
Purpose
The foundation's purpose is to:
- Inspire
women to become leaders in philanthropy
- Demonstrate
the impact of large-scale, targeted grant-making
- Provide
education in current issues and strategies in philanthropy
Source of Funding
Washington Women's Foundation members make an annual
contribution of $2,300 and commit to five years of membership.
$2,000 of each member's annual contribution is exclusively for
grant making; $300 helps support WWF's educational programs. The
Washington Women's Foundation is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation.
