Submit a Letter of Inquiry

We invite nonprofit organizations to submit a two page Letter of Inquiry (LOI) to enter into our annual grant process. The Grant Committee will determine which organizations will receive invitations to submit formal grant proposals. For the 2010 grant cycle, LOIs are due no later than November 30, 2009. You may fill out an LOI form online or download an LOI form and mail it in.

LOI Tips:
  • Review grant guidelines to make sure your project is eligible for funding.
  • In the narrative, be as clear and focused as possible about how your organization would make best use of $100,000. Don’t try to suggest too many different possible projects; focus on one per LOI.
  • Consider submitting no more than one or two LOI’s per funding cycle, even if your organization is very large.
  • Due date for the LOI is November 30, 2009.
  • An email confirming receipt of your LOI will be sent in December; please contact Marion DeForest if you don’t receive one.
  • Request For Proposal (RFP) letters will be sent mid-February; if you don’t receive one (with an accompanying confirmation email) you can assume your organization has not been selected for further consideration in the 2010 funding cycle.
  • We unfortunately are not able to give feedback on reasons why specific LOIs do not go forward to the RFP stage, given the large number of LOIs and the logistics of the Grant Committee format.

Youth Suicide Prevention Program

“Your grant enables us to apply to funders in these new communities and seek local support across the state. We were awarded a three-year $51,000 grant from a Walla Walla trust. Never before had they funded an organization based in Seattle, but we were told the Washington Women’s Foundation grant impacted their decision to fund us.”
