Our Impact On Philanthropy

Informed, deliberate, sustained giving is the difference between philanthropy and charity. Washington Women’s Foundation helps develop philanthropists, not only among our own members but by encouraging and facilitating replication of our model nationwide. We are proud of our reputation as a visionary leader, model and resource for new foundations throughout the state, the region and the nation. Over 16 organizations have developed collective giving models inspired by our work. We are honored to count these foundations among those who have learned from our example to launch their own efforts to serve their communities and extend the reach of philanthropy.

In 2002, through a generous grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, we published a book, “Something Ventured, An Innovative Model in Philanthropy”. The book details our model and offers advice and practical resources to help women across the country develop similar foundations. Order a copy by emailing us today.

“The Washington Women’s Foundation has developed a model for collaborative giving that can easily be adapted to other communities.”
