Our Impact On Our Community

The impact of Washington Women’s Foundation extends far beyond the nonprofit organizations we fund and the clients, patrons and causes they serve. The effect of our grants on the broad community – from Seattle to King County to the Puget Sound region to communities throughout the state of Washington and beyond – is immeasurable. We are building a new source of major funding for our communities.

Each nonprofit we fund better meets its mission. Each mission achieved creates a stronger community. Each neighborhood, town or region well-served improves the health and quality of life for all who live there.

And, our community also benefits from the growth and development of the women who join the Foundation. As they become better informed, more deliberate and sustained givers – true philanthropists – they give back in more meaningful ways and serve as role models for countless others.

Leadership builds community. And Washington Women’s Foundation builds leaders.

“A grant from the Washington Women’s Foundation can have a big impact on a nonprofit organization in our community. It can mean the difference between simply maintaining the status quo and taking a program to a whole new level. It also improves their discipline and skill in competing for grants, introduces them to a much broader audience of donors, and helps them leverage other contributions.

“Women who belong to the Foundation really get the chance to see the power of philanthropy. When the Foundation pools our resources and gives a $100,000 grant, we see what a big impact that can have. It changes the nature of your gift from simply being a charitable contribution to truly being philanthropic. Members gain experience in grant-making and an understanding of nonprofit groups that will make them better volunteers, board members and donors moving forward.”
