How
We Give
Washington
Women's Foundation members each contribute $2,300 annually. $1,000
is reserved for the foundation's pooled fund awards; $1,000 is
reserved for individual member grants; $300 helps support WWF
educational programs.
Pooled Fund Awards
The Grant Committee researches needs in the community and requests
proposals from organizations in the areas of arts & culture,
education, environment, health and social services. The foundation
does not limit its grant making to women's causes, but looks for:
- Responses to urgent and critical need;
- Bold new ventures; and/or
- New approaches to time-worn problems.
The committee selects a ballot of 10 proposals,
two in each issue area. The entire WWF membership selects the
five organizations receiving awards. Awards range from $50,000
to $100,000, typically dispersed over two to three years.
Individual Member Grants
Each member makes her individual grant of $1,000 to the non-profit
organization of her choice. These grants are awarded each fall
and spring.
